A Jubilee Event

I’m so excited to share the beautiful wedding of Jessica and Matthew on our blog today! If you missed their welcome party or rehearsal dinner, follow the links to view each event surrounding their gorgeous wedding weekend!

Before I go into the details of the day I want to tell you a little bit about Jessica and Matthew– and their family. They are wonderful. Simply, and truly, wonderful. They have the unique ability to connect with everyone who helped to make this day special– and in turn made them feel special. You instantly felt like you were part of the family as they welcomed you with big hugs and lots of warm-hearted laughs. It is very obvious how important family is to J&M– you can see it in how much time they spend with their parents and siblings, or the many family vacations they all go on every year– or how many of their family made the trip to Barbados to witness their marriage. You can also see it in who they chose to stand by them in their wedding party. Jessica’s sisters were all her bridesmaids along with Matthew’s sister, and Matthew chose his brother, father and uncles to be his groomsmen.

When Jessica and I began on the design of her wedding, she wanted to embrace a soft and fun tropical color palette with a punch of citrus! We worked with Nichole Michel of Coral Pheasant Stationery + Design on the invitations and the entire paper suite for the weekend– and she did an amazing job! She perfectly blended a fun and modern tropical theme while keeping the invitations classic.

The day began relaxed for both J&M in the beautiful suites at Cobblers Cove. Jessica and her gorgeous bridesmaids were pampered by our stylists, Donna, Kia and Name and spent the morning sipping mimosas, laughing and sharing memories. Matthew and his groomsmen suited up just after lunch and made their way to St. Patricks’ Cathedral in Bridgetown. I have to say, Matthew was every wedding planners dream as a groom… if he was told he needed to be somewhere, he got himself there and perfectly on time!

St. Patricks’ Cathedral is in the heart of Bridgetown, and serves as the archdiocese of Barbados. In fact, it is the oldest Catholic church on the island– built in 1899! Jessica and Matthew fell in love with the idea of being married at this Cathedral and they invited a special guest to perform their ceremony with the permission of the church. Father Wall had been Jessica’s family priest for decades– in fact– he even baptized her! It was so special to have Father Wall be apart of the festivities the entire weekend. He is such a sweet and loving man, and truly loves Jessica, her family and Matthew. He was also a lot of fun, and took me for a spin around the dance floor during the reception!

Jessica and Matthew opted to have their ceremony decorated in classic white, and Giselle along with her team at Events & Decor by Giselle worked with us on creating an abundant and gorgeous alter. As guests entered the church, they were greeted by a beautiful floral and garland arch– dripping with roses and ranunculus. It was truly beautiful! Hymns and songs were played by our classic quartet and Jessica was walked down the aisle by her dad to the classic Canon D. The ceremony was truly heartwarming– filled with a few tears, some laughs, and a beautiful exchange of vows. After the ceremony, J&M were sent off to the reception by their guests (and an extremely large portrait of Jesus!).

Guests arrive by shuttle to Cobblers Cove and enjoyed signature cocktails in custom glasses, canapés, and a gorgeous raw bar overlooking the Caribbean sea. NJ30+ provided funky, upbeat jazz music which led us into an amazing sunset and a round of very heartfelt toasts by Jessica’s father, the best man Casey and maid of honor, Carly. After cocktails, guests dined in Cobblers’ lush gardens under swaying palms, flickering candles and a ceiling of string lights. It was truly magical!

After dinner, Jessica and Matthew surprised their guests with a lantern release (special thanks to Henri for her logistical mastermind on getting this done well!). They had purchased these 200+ sky lanterns (in Thailand, I think!) a few years ago and travelled with them all the way back to New York– knowing one day, they would release them at their wedding. It was so gorgeous and special– and just as the lanterns started to float away, our amazing band 2 Mile Hill started to play Coldplay’s “Sky Full of Stars.” We all had chills! The rest of the night was spent dancing away under a beautiful tent.

A special thank you to all our vendors who worked so hard to make Jessica & Matthew’s wedding day so wonderful. A special thank you to Will and Anne-Marie at Cobblers for all they did and to my team– Diana, Melissa, Alli and Shannon– who were absolute rockstars on the wedding day– THANK YOU! Thank you to Fred Marcus Studios for the generous use of the images below (images of the paper story are by Coral Pheasant Stationery + Design).

Jessica and Matthew– thank you for letting us be part of your personal history and trusting our team. This was a day our entire team will remember. So sorry for crying when I had to say goodbye, but I am SO excited that you’re making Barbados a place you’ll return to year after year. That means I get to see you for many years to come!

Happy Wedding Wednesday, friends! I’m back to share another gorgeous event from Jessica and Matthew’s destination wedding here in Barbados. You can catch their casual Welcome Party we shared last week here.

Jessica and Matthew wanted to treat their guest to an extraordinary experience the night before their wedding– and what better place to dine than The Cliff Restaurant on Barbados’ West Coast? The Cliff is a renowned restaurant voted by foodies from New York to London as one of the top restaurants to eat in the world– and let me tell you– it is one of the most GORGEOUS restaurants I’ve ever been to.

Guests were greeted with signature drinks upon arrival and watched the sunset over our platinum coast in the upstairs lounge. Following a sunset drink, they headed downstairs for a truly spectacular meal and a round of heartfelt, wonderful and vivacious speeches! Seriously, Jessica and Matthew’s family shared some of the most beautiful, funny and charming speeches we’ve ever heard.

All in all, it was definitely a night that all their guests will remember– and such a luxurious and special way to celebrate the night before their wedding. Enjoy these beautiful images from Brian Marcus of Fred Marcus Studio.

I’m so excited to share with you a gorgeous wedding weekend we had the privilege and HONOR of planning for our dear clients, Jessica and Matthew. They reached out to me after having chosen Barbados as their wedding destination. They knew they wanted an intimate weekend with their nearest and dearest and found Barbados to be the perfect place for all their guests to travel to and enjoy. From the get-go, they were focused on FUN and infused that into every event during their wedding weekend.

Guests travelled from all over to experience Barbados and share in their love for one another– many for the first time. J&M wanted to welcome everyone with a light-hearted and casual welcome party. They chose Cobblers Cove to host this evening of great food, rum punch and local music! The night was truly the perfect way to get all their guests together and celebrate the start of a memorable (and monumental!) weekend. It’s so great to look back through these images by Brian Marcus of Fred Marcus Studio and relive these precious memories.

Stay tuned for their amazing rehearsal dinner and wedding!

A Jubilee EventBarbados Elopements

Introducing Luxury Barbados Elopements

posted by Candice November 1, 2016 0 comments

Every love story is unique and different
AND WE BELIEVE YOUR ELOPEMENT SHOULD BE, TOO.

If you’ve been following along on Instagram and Facebook, we’ve been working hard at Team Jubilee on a new service we are really excited about! When we launched our Caribbean brand two years ago, my mission was to bring our sense of style and approach to Barbados. As our business grows, I wanted to continue to innovate our approach and the services we offer. I’m excited to announce that we are transforming the idea of elopements to be more than a short ceremony– but rather, an intimate wedding designed and planned the Jubilee way!

Our Approach to Elopements

We believe in choosing what is right for you when it comes to your wedding day.  We also believe that an elopement should be just as special, beautiful and meaningful as the large wedding bashes you’ve attended of friends and family over the years.

What’s more romantic than just the two of you (and maybe a few guests) jetting off to our beautiful island of Barbados to profess your love? Honestly, we can’t think of anything more special! Our approach to elopements is the same approach we provide to our large destination clients: detailed, fun, luxurious and a reflect of you. We work with our elopement couples to curate an elopement experience in Barbados that is fully customized based on your aesthetic and unique love story.

How we are redefining the Elopement in Barbados

Barbados has so much to offer for your elopement! You can exchange vows in a 300 hundred year old church, on our untouched beaches against backdrops of the turquoise Caribbean sea, or in an abundant tropical garden. After, an intimate dinner awaits by a renowned private chef on the beach, in one of our 5-star restaurants, or perhaps in a modern villa. The options are endless, and just like you, we don’t believe in cookie cutter elopements.

No matter your idea for your intimate elopement, it’s our job to make it come to fruition. Our elopement clients hire us to not only plan an amazing adventure for their wedding, but also design a day that is beautiful in every way. From ceremony arbors draped in white fabric and exotic flowers, to a table for 10 on the beach under the glow of stars and candlelight– each elopement story is as beautiful as it is unique.

Why are we the Elopement Experts?

Aside from my husband and I choosing to elope ourselves (…. and it was MAGICAL), we’ve been planning and designing weddings all over the world for almost 10 years. We’re sticklers for the details and believe that they matter. We live for entertaining, and believe that some of the most memorable experiences are best shared with only a few. When our clients give us the opportunity to plan something truly special for them– we put every ounce of creativity, love, and care into making their experience more than they dreamed of.

Amanda + Max: A Plantation Style Wedding in Barbados

posted by Candice September 14, 2016 2 Comments

I’m so happy to share this amazing (and HUGE!) blog post with you– Amanda and Max’s wedding story!

You know those couples who spend their whole wedding day just smiling? In fact, every time I had a chance to meet with Amanda and Max about their wedding when they visited Barbados– they were always smiling. When Max proposed to Amanda, they decided that they wanted to have a destination wedding where Max grew up and there was no place more perfect than his family’s plantation home on the South Coast in Christ Church, Barbados.

With sprawling views of the sea behind them, they exchanged vows in front of 140 of their closest friends and family under a beautiful Chuppah. Right after the ceremony, they dashed away into a secret garden to spend a few moments together, alone, soaking in the moment. I think more couples should do this– it truly is one of the very few moments you’ll have together all by yourself!

Their guests enjoyed cocktail hour by the pool under the warm glow of cafe lights, and spent their evening under a gorgeous tent we designed with the help of our friends at Milestone Events. There was laughter and tears through some very heartfelt toasts, and lots of dancing after courtesy of the amazing local band, Two Mile Hill.

Some of my favorite details of the day are the welcome bag their guests received with a cute hangover kit and custom tumbler, the amazing custom chandeliers in blush pink, and the gorgeous calligraphy signs we had locally made.

Many thanks to Gina Francesca for these gorgeous images! Thank you Amanda and Max for letting me be part of such a beautiful and heartfelt day. It was truly one of my favorite weddings!

I’ve been working with my sweet clients, Jessica & Matthew for over a year (I can’t even believe it’s been that long!) on their destination wedding here in Barbados! We are inching closer to their wedding date (just a few weeks left) and I wanted to share these fun, tropical wedding invitations designed by my gal Nichole Michel of Coral Pheasant Stationery + Design.

Jessica wanted an invitation that celebrated the Caribbean location where she and Matthew were getting married — and one which was also inspired by their venue, Cobblers Cove. Nichole designed an invitation with tropical leaves and custom illustrations of special places their guests would be visiting, including St. Patrick’s Cathedral, The Cliff Restaurant and Cobblers Cove.

Nichole also created a custom trifold detail card, which shares important and festive information for events surrounding the wedding day! The invitations were mailed in these gorgeous blush envelopes with a mixture of vintage and current stamps in our color story + tropical theme. She also worked closely with Everly Calligraphy to create custom calligraphy for the invitation pieces and the outer envelopes!

All the cards were stacked together and neatly assembled with a beautiful diamond shaped card and bright yellow ribbon for a pop of citrus color!

We are SO excited about Jessica & Matthew’s wedding day and the final weeks of planning to pull it all together.

I’m excited to share with you Laura and Dan’s gorgeous destination wedding at The Crane Resort in Barbados! In looking over the images from their beautiful day, one thing strikes me the most: their smiles. Laura and Dan are two loving people whose joyful demeanor hits you the moment you meet them. Laura contacted me several months before her wedding looking for someone to collaborate with on ideas that she and Dan had for their wedding. She wanted something fun and colorful with a hint of sparkle, incorporating her personal style with a hint of island flare, and we worked together to create this playful look for their wedding day.

Thank you to Gina Francesca Photography for the gorgeous images below– and thank you to Laura and Dan for trusting me with such an important day! XO

As one of our favorite publications, Bliss Celebrations Magazine, prepares to launch its 2015 issue this week, I thought we ought to blog our photoshoot for their 2014 cover! I know– how belated– right? Well the truth is, every time I sat down to blog all this gorgeousness I got overwhelmed by the vast number of beautiful images from Carla Ten Eyck and all the pretty details we put together with the best team. No, seriously. I tried and tried, but looking through these hundreds of pictures I couldn’t figure out where to start!

The concept for this photoshoot was from a white and gold t-shirt I bought at j.crew with pineapples on it. Then, I found myself flipping through InStyle Magazine and saw the most preciously branded cans of sangria. Don’t ask me how we managed to pull off such a fabulous photoshoot from those two sources of inspiration– but this will go down as one of my absolute favorite collaborations with a team of wedding creatives who pour every ounce of their energy into making something beautiful!

That is the best part about doing these editorial photoshoots– the creative team. I always find myself leaving, with my car bursting at the seems with props (which were neatly packed on the way there, but somehow, nothing seems to fit back the way you had it the first time!), feeling utterly fulfilled and down-right awestruck at the level of talent I’ve managed to find myself amongst. When I opened our company in 2007 I never thought for a million years our work would be featured, but even moreso, I never thought how a creative team such as this would bring such happiness into the soul of my career!

This shoot is filled with so much joyful prettiness, but there are some things I want to point out as my favorites. When I called Diane Guadett after showing her the inspiration and said, “what do you think of a floral table runner?”, she loved the idea. Never in my wildest dreams did I think she would bring the mother of all floral table runners, filed with hundreds of vibrantly colored flowers. When she walked in, I think Carla Ten Eyck almost had a brain aneurysm. It was so fantastically gorgeous and over the top, yet in these images, feels so natural and wondrous.

There is no denying how much our company loves working with Nichole Michel of Coral Pheasant. Every project we have the opportunity to work on with her, be it with clients or photoshoots, she always blows us away. Nichole thinks about every meticulous detail as it relates to what she’s going to produce– and has the ability to see beyond what the inspiration is and make it her own. For this photoshoot she literally took my breath away. And then she showed up with all these quirky bits and pieces from her vast collection of estate sale winnings (she has the stamina to find cool stuff everywhere– the side of the road, in the dumpster, at some tag sale in your neighborhood– I can never understand how she gets so lucky! I only find baby cribs with 5 year old spit-up and old thigh masters) like the bronze candelabras and that animal figurine, which I embarrassingly don’t know what type of animal it is. For this paper story, she was on hand to style every frame that Carla took, and spent hours on the floor perfectly tweaking each piece of paper until she was happy with it.

We invited Rick of Emily’s Catering to be part of this shoot not only because we love him to pieces, but because he is doing some wonderful things with our clients’ events. He was food styling his heart out and did a tremendous job! Tracking down mini bottles of Makers Mark (Carla’s second aneurysm of the day), mini bottles of St. Germain and Don Julio. I respect Rick because he is a chef first, and a caterer second, always wanting to wow and impress our clients on any event we recommend him for.

My fashion partner in crime, Beth Chapman, never disappoints. She can put together any kind of style, from boho to Jackie O and it works. As with me, this photoshoot was intrinsically Beth: lady-like bows, stripes, pearls, big hair buns and rose colored cheeks. There is no fashion stylist in the state of Connecticut who has the foresight, dedication, and genuine passion for what she does.

Our friends at Ryan Designs provided these fabulous bars (which they built originally for us!) with bronze sequin fronts, the custom sequin chandeliers and the gorgeous crystal chandeliers above Libby’s dessert display. To say we love the team at Ryan Designs is an understatement. They are the best in the business and add so much beauty to our events– and we couldn’t do what we do without them. Plus, they are the kindest most genuine people you will ever come across.

I hope you enjoy these gorgeous images from Carla Ten Eyck below. It goes without saying how much we love working with her! 🙂
